Bead Stringing

For necklaces with a lot of beads, but not heavy beads...stiffen about an inch or two of the stringing end with glue, allowing it to dry before stringing. For long necklaces it just makes stringing a tad bit less onerous.

  • For larger beaded projects:
    • Advise using 3-4 strands of thread.
    • Multiply the length of bead by the number of beads you are using; multiply this by 3 or 4 (to factor in 3- or 4-ply), add another 12 inches for finishing and working.
    • If more than one type of bead is being used, for each bead length apply the above calculations, summing the results from each beads' calculations, then add the 12 inch working tail.
    • If spacer beads are being used, apply above calculations to length of spacer beads. If knotting between larger beads, rather than spacer beads, double the number derived in the calculations.
    • Of course, the bead design board, available in most bead stores, allows you to set up the beads in the order you'd like, and allows you to view the approximate length of all beads together. Simply multiply by 3 or 4 and add 12" for the length of string needed.
